| Product Description | |
PDGF-C is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family. PDGF-C is a functional analog of PDGF-A and requires proteolytic activation to become biologically active. This activation allows PDGF-C to selectively bind to and activate PDGF receptor alpha (PDGFR-α), which is critical for mediating cellular responses such as proliferation and migration in vascular smooth muscle cells and pericytes. PDGF-C expression in the arterial wall and cultured vascular cells indicates a significant role in vascular biology and potential involvement in pathological conditions like arteriosclerosis. PDGF-C is subject to transcriptional deregulation by EWS/ETS fusion proteins, particularly EWS/FLI, highlighting relevance in certain cancers and importance in both normal physiology and disease contexts. |
