BCL2L10 contains a BH4 domain and a transmembrane domain, both critical for its function in promoting cell survival. Notably, overexpression of BCL2L10 has been linked to the prevention of cytochrome C release from the mitochondria, a key event that triggers caspase-3 activation and leads to apoptosis.
