| Product Description | |
MMP-14 also knonw as MT-MMP-1 is a member of the membrane-type MMP (MT-MMP) subfamily. MMP-14 plays a crucial role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen and gelatin, which is vital for tissue remodeling and repair processes. MMP-14 is a type I membrane protein that not only degrades extracellular matrix components but also activates other MMPs, thereby regulating the turnover of the extracellular matrix. MMP-14 activation is mediated by proprotein convertases, indicating involvement in a cascade that is essential for maintaining tissue homeostasis and responding to pathological conditions. |
