Brd2 also known as RING3 is a transcriptional regulator that belongs to the BET (bromodomains and extra terminal domain) family of proteins. Brd2 plays a crucial role in cellular processes as a mitogen-activated nuclear protein, with its gene located in the human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II region, which implicates Brd2 in HLA-associated diseases. Brd2 is involved in the regulation of gene expression and chromatin dynamics, making Brd2 essential for cellular responses to growth signals. Brd2′s structure includes two bromodomains that facilitate interaction with acetylated lysines on histones, thereby influencing transcriptional regulation. |
