Product Description

MTH1 also known as NUDT1 is a 179 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the nudix hydrolase family and plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic integrity. MTH1 is highly expressed in the testis, thymus, and proliferating blood lymphocytes, functioning as an antimutagenic enzyme that hydrolyzes oxidized purine nucleoside triphosphates into their corresponding monophosphates. This enzymatic activity prevents the misincorporation of guanosine triphosphate into DNA, thereby averting A:T to C:G transversions, which can lead to mutations. MTH1′s cytoplasmic localization enables effective sanitization of nucleotide pools for both mitochondrial and nuclear genomes, ensuring the fidelity of DNA replication and repair processes.
