Oct-2 plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression, particularly in the immune system, where Oct-2 is essential for the activation of immunoglobulin gene transcription in B cells. Oct-2 is primarily located in the nucleus, where Oct-2 binds to specific DNA sequences known as octamer motifs, which are vital for the transcription of immunoglobulin genes.
