Product Description

IL-11Rα also known as IL11RA is a stromal cell-derived cytokine that plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of the pleiotropic cytokine IL-11, which influences the proliferation and differentiation of lymphopoietic, myeloid, and erythroid cells. IL-11 has been shown to inhibit adipogenesis in vitro, highlighting IL-11′s importance in metabolic regulation. IL-11Rα receptor is a member of the class I cytokine receptor family and shares structural similarities with the alpha subunits of human ciliary neurotrophic factor and mouse IL-6 receptor. This structural similarity suggests a conserved mechanism of action among these receptors. High-affinity binding of IL-11 to IL-11Rα requires glycoprotein 130 (gp130) coexpression, which is essential for proper stimulation of Ba/F3 cells to differentiate into macrophages in response to IL-11.
