Product Description

Scribble also known as SCRIB is a protein that was identified as being similar to the Drosophila scribble protein. Scribble plays a crucial role in maintaining epithelial integrity and regulating cell polarity, which is essential for proper tissue architecture and function. Scribble is primarily localized at tight junctions in epithelial cells, where Scribble interacts with other proteins to ensure correct assembly and maintenance of these structures. This localization is vital because tight junctions serve as barriers that control substance passage between cells, thereby influencing processes such as nutrient absorption and pathogen defense. Mutations in Scribble can lead to significant developmental defects and contribute to tumorigenesis, highlighting Scribble′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
