SMARCB1 also known as BAF47, SNF5, Ini1 is part of a complex that relieves repressive chromatin structures, allowing the transcriptional machinery to access its targets more effectively. SMARCB1 plays a crucial role in the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, which is essential for gene expression regulation. SMARCB1 helps facilitate ATP-dependent remodeling of nucleosomes, allowing transcription factors access to DNA. SMARCB1, along with other core subunits like Brg-1 and BAF155, enhances remodeling activity of the complex, making SMARCB1 vital for proper cellular function and development. SMARCB1 dysregulation has been implicated in various malignancies, including malignant rhabdoid tumors, highlighting SMARCB1′s importance in maintaining genomic stability and regulating cell growth. |
