Product Description

BMPR1B also known as BMPR-IB, ALK6 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor family of transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. BMPR1B plays a crucial role in the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway, which regulates various biological processes, including cell differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. BMPR1B is primarily located on the cell membrane, where BMPR1B interacts with BMPs to form a signaling complex that activates downstream serine/threonine kinases. Proper functioning of BMPR1B is vital for maintaining normal bone development and homeostasis, as dysregulation of this pathway can lead to various pathologies, including cancer and bone disorders. BMPR1B is expressed in several tissues, including the brain and human glioma cell lines, highlighting BMPR1B′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
