Product Description

CD1D is a divergent member of the CD1 family of transmembrane glycoproteins, which are structurally related to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins and form heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. CD1D is primarily located on the surface of human intestinal epithelial cells and is known to exist in two forms: a β-2-Microglobulin-independent nonglycosylated form and a β-2-Microglobulin-dependent glycosylated form. CD1D expression on these cells facilitates the recognition of lipid antigens, which is essential for the immune response against various pathogens. Additionally, CD1D is associated with β-2-Microglobulin and is expressed on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, a subset of B cells, and certain dendritic cells, highlighting its importance in the development and activation of CD1-restricted T cells.
