CYR61 is a secreted heparin-binding protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation, particularly in vascular endothelial cells. CYR61 interacts with cell surface receptor Integrin αvβ3, facilitating adhesion and migration of endothelial cells, which is vital for processes such as wound healing and tissue repair. Elevated expression of CCN1 has been observed in various tumors, where CYR61 not only promotes tumor growth but also serves as a marker for tumor progression, highlighting CCN1′s significance in cancer biology. |
