FSHR(Follicle stimulating hormone receptor) belongs to family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors. It is the receptor for follicle stimulating hormone and functions in gonad development that primarily couples to Gs proteins to stimulate cAMP/PKA signaling following ligand engagement, shaping transcriptional programs that control gonadal cell differentiation, steroidogenesis, and folliculogenesis. Receptor activation interfaces with broader GPCR regulatory processes including receptor desensitization, internalization, and downstream MAPK signaling dynamics that influence proliferation and endocrine responsiveness. Altered FSHR expression or signaling is associated with reproductive endocrine phenotypes such as ovarian dysfunction, variable gonadotropin sensitivity, and impaired fertility, and it is also used as a marker of hormone-responsive cellular states.
