RPS19 is located primarily in the nucleolus, where RPS19 is involved in the biogenesis of ribosomes, and proper localization is vital for efficient ribosome production. Deficiencies in RPS19 can lead to impaired ribosome assembly, which affects cellular protein synthesis and can result in severe consequences such as Diamond-Blackfan anemia, a condition characterized by a failure to produce red blood cells. |
