IL-23R(Interleukin-23 receptor) is a subunit of the receptor for IL23A/IL23. IL-23R plays a crucial role in immune response by mediating the effects of cytokine IL-23, which is essential for the differentiation and maintenance of T helper 17 (Th17) cells. Th17 cells are pivotal in defense against extracellular pathogens and are implicated in various autoimmune diseases. IL-23 interaction with IL-23R promotes production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, influencing inflammatory response. Dysregulation of IL-23 signaling has been linked to chronic inflammatory conditions, making IL-23R a potential therapeutic target for treating diseases such as psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease. |
