WAVE2 also known as WASF2, SCAR2 is a member of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family. WAVE2 plays a crucial role in actin cytoskeleton dynamics, particularly in the regulation of membrane ruffling and the formation of actin filament clusters in response to GTP binding. WAVE2 is essential for cellular processes such as migration, shape change, and signal transduction, as WAVE2 interacts with the Arp2/3 complex to promote actin polymerization. WAVE2 is predominantly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes, highlighting WAVE2′s importance in immune responses and cell motility.
