PSMB4 also known as HN3, PROS26 is a critical β subunit of the 20S Proteasome, which plays a vital role in the selective degradation of cellular proteins. This process is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis, regulating the cell cycle, and modulating various signaling pathways. The 20S Proteasome is composed of a cylindrical core made up of four stacked rings, with the outer two rings consisting of seven α subunits and the inner two rings containing seven β subunits, including PSMB4. Proper functioning of the proteasome ensures that damaged or misfolded proteins are efficiently removed from cells, preventing potential toxic accumulation and contributing to overall organism health. |
