Product Description

Fibrinogen γ also known as FGG is the gamma component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein comprised of three pairs of nonidentical polypeptide chains. Fibrinogen γ plays a crucial role in the coagulation cascade, particularly in Fibrin formation, the primary component of blood clots. The structure of Fibrinogen consists of three distinct polypeptide chains—α, β, and γ—linked by disulfide bonds, allowing formation of a fibrin mesh that stabilizes blood clots. This structural arrangement facilitates Fibrinogen conversion to Fibrin by Thrombin and influences interactions with various procoagulants and platelets, enhancing functionality in hemostasis. The Fibrinogen γ subunit is essential for proper assembly of the Fibrin network and contributes to cell adhesion and migration regulation, making Fibrinogen γ a key player in wound healing and tissue repair processes.
