Product Description | |
PI3 kinase p85α also known as p85alpha, PIK3R1 is a critical component of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), which regulates key cellular processes such as growth, survival, metabolism, and motility. The p85α subunit serves as a regulatory adapter that couples the catalytic p110 subunit to activated protein tyrosine kinases, controlling the kinase′s activity and localization. PI3K′s activity is central to intracellular signaling pathways, including the AKT/mTOR pathway, which is vital for cell proliferation and survival. The p85α subunit contains SH2 and SH3 domains that mediate interactions with phosphorylated tyrosine residues on receptor tyrosine kinases and other signaling proteins, ensuring precise regulation of PI3K signaling. Dysregulation of PI3K activity, often through mutations or altered expression of p85α, is implicated in various cancers and metabolic disorders. |
