c-Rel also known as Rel is a protein that belongs to the Rel homology domain/immunoglobulin-like fold, plexin, transcription factor (RHD/IPT) family. c-Rel is a vital component of the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NFκB) signaling pathway, which is essential for regulating immune responses, cell proliferation, and survival. Through binding to specific κB sites in promoter regions of target genes, c-Rel plays a crucial role in transcriptional activation of immunoglobulin kappa light chain genes, thereby influencing B cell development and function.
