| Product Description | |
ICAM-1 also known as CD54 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. ICAM-1 plays a crucial role in immune responses by mediating leukocyte adhesion and transmigration across the endothelium during inflammation. ICAM-1 undergoes post-translational modifications such as N-linked glycosylation, which are important for stability, cell surface expression, and interaction with integrins like LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) and Mac-1 (CD11b/CD18) on leukocytes. These modifications can affect ICAM-1′s function in cell adhesion and signaling pathways. Altered expression or glycosylation patterns of ICAM-1 are associated with various pathological conditions, including autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and cancer metastasis. Understanding ICAM-1′s role and post-translational modifications is essential for research into inflammatory processes and potential therapeutic interventions. |
