TrkA also known as Trk gp140, NTRK1 is a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor (NTKR) family.  TrkA is primarily located on the surface of neurons, where TrkA mediates the effects of neurotrophic factors that promote neuronal health and function. NGF binding to TrkA initiates a cascade of intracellular signaling pathways that lead to neuronal survival and the modulation of synaptic plasticity, which is vital for learning and memory.
