Product Description

Catenin δ-1 also known as delta catenin, catenin delta 1, p120, CTNND1 is a member of the catenin family. Catenin δ-1 plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell adhesion and signaling pathways, particularly in the brain where it interacts with presenilin 1, a protein implicated in Alzheimer′s disease. The presence of catenin δ-1 in the central nervous system highlights its importance in neuronal development and synaptic function. Notably, the gene encoding catenin δ-1 is located on human chromosome 5p15.2, and a hemizygous loss of this gene is associated with Cri-du-Chat syndrome, a genetic disorder characterized by developmental delays and intellectual disability. The interaction of catenin δ-1 with other catenins, such as α-catenin and β-catenin, further emphasizes its role in maintaining cellular integrity and communication.
