Product Description | |
Chk2(Checkpoint kinase 2) also known as CHEK2 plays a critical role in the cellular response to DNA damage, functioning as a key regulator in the G2 DNA damage checkpoint. Upon DNA damage, Chk2 is activated and phosphorylates Cdc25C, which inhibits its phosphatase activity, thereby preventing the activation of cyclin-dependent kinases and blocking the progression of mitosis. This mechanism is vital for maintaining genomic stability, as it allows the cell time to repair DNA before division, thus preventing the propagation of damaged DNA. Additionally, Chk2 interacts with various proteins involved in the DNA damage response, including p53, further underscoring its importance in tumor suppression and cellular integrity. |
