| Product Description | |
Cofilin also known as CFL is a critical actin-binding protein that plays a crucial role in regulating actin dynamics, which is essential for various cellular processes, including motility, division, and apoptosis. Cofilin is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where Cofilin interacts with filamentous actin (F-actin) to promote actin filament disassembly, facilitating rapid cytoskeleton remodeling. Cofilin′s ability to bind F-actin is vital for maintaining cellular integrity and function, allowing cells to respond to environmental cues and adapt shape and movement accordingly. Additionally, Cofilin′s activity is regulated by phosphorylation; when phosphorylated by LIM kinase 1, Cofilin becomes inactive and unable to bind F-actin, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in controlling function. |
