This domain enables FRA1 to form heterodimers with Jun family proteins, creating complexes that bind specific DNA elements to regulate gene expression. FRA1′s significance becomes particularly evident in cancer biology, where dysregulation of FRA1 contributes to cancer progression, notably in aggressive forms like triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
