Product Description

SHIP2 also known as INPPL1 is an SH2-containing 5'-inositol phosphatase that is involved in the regulation of insulin function. SHIP2 plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the regulation of immune responses and cell growth. SHIP2 hydrolyzes phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PtdIns P3) to phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate (PtdIns P2), which is essential for inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting cell cycle arrest, particularly in glioblastoma cells. This function helps maintain cellular homeostasis and prevents uncontrolled cell growth, which can lead to tumorigenesis. SHIP2 is involved in the signaling pathways of various immune cells, including T and B lymphocytes, and SHIP2 expression is modulated by factors such as macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and epidermal growth factor (EGF).
