Product Description

PTPα also known as RPTPα, PTPRA is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPα plays a crucial role in cellular signaling by dephosphorylating and activating Src family tyrosine kinases, which are essential for regulating integrin signaling, cell adhesion, and growth factor responsiveness. PTPα is located in the cell membrane, where PTPα contains an extracellular domain, a single transmembrane segment, and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains, allowing PTPα to form constitutive dimers that enhance functional capacity. Additionally, PTPα serves as a receptor for the Helicobacter pylori vacuolating cytotoxin, VacA, highlighting PTPα′s importance in both normal cellular functions and pathogenic processes.
