Product Description

PKN belongs to the protein kinase C superfamily. PKN plays a crucial role in cellular signaling by acting as a serine/threonine kinase that is activated by fatty acids and is essential for various cellular processes, including the regulation of the cytoskeleton and cell division. PKN′s unique structure, which includes a catalytic domain homologous to the protein kinase C family, allows PKN to interact specifically with Rho GTPases, thereby functioning as a molecular switch that modulates actin dynamics and cytokinesis. PKN′s structural importance lies in facilitating the phosphorylation of target proteins, such as the head-rod domain of neurofilament protein, which is vital for maintaining neuronal integrity and function. PKN′s interaction with other proteins, such as rhophilin and Citron, underscores PKN′s role in orchestrating complex signaling pathways that are critical for cellular responses to external stimuli.
