| Product Description | |
NMDAR2B also known as GluN2B, GRIN2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor family within the ionotropic glutamate receptor superfamily. NMDAR2B plays a crucial role in synaptic plasticity and memory function, as GRIN2B is a key component of the NMDA receptor, which is essential for mediating excitatory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. This receptor is unique due to voltage-dependent activation and high permeability to calcium ions, which are vital for various intracellular signaling pathways. The NMDA receptor is composed of multiple subunits, including ε1, ε2, ε3, ε4, and a ζ subunit, with the ε2 subunit being particularly important for receptor assembly and function. Proper functioning of NMDA receptors is critical for processes such as learning and memory, and dysregulation of these receptors has been implicated in several neurological disorders, including Alzheimer′s disease, schizophrenia, and epilepsy. |
