Product Description | |
γ-Catenin also known as Plakoglobin, JUP is a major cytoplasmic protein which is the only known constituent common to submembranous plaques of both desmosomes and intermediate junctions.γ-Catenin plays a crucial role in cellular adhesion by forming complexes with cadherins, particularly E-cadherin and N-cadherin. These complexes are essential for maintaining epithelial tissue integrity and facilitating intercellular communication. gamma-catenin in these complexes not only stabilizes cadherin-catenin interactions but also participates in signaling pathways that regulate cell proliferation and differentiation. Alterations in gamma-catenin expression or function have been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, where disrupted cell adhesion can lead to increased invasiveness and metastasis. |
