Product Description

PMS2 also known as MLH4, PMS2CL is a key component of the mismatch repair system. PMS2 plays a critical role in the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system, which maintains genomic stability by correcting errors during DNA replication. Deficiencies in this repair mechanism can lead to an accumulation of mutations, increasing the risk of various cancers, including hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). The identification of PMS2 mutations in HNPCC patients highlights PMS2′s importance in cancer predisposition and potential as a biomarker for tumorigenesis. PMS2 interacts with other key proteins in the MMR pathway, such as MLH1, forming a functional complex crucial for the repair process.
