Product Description

BTLA also known as CD272 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. BTLA plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses, particularly during T-cell activation. BTLA is structurally similar to other coinhibitory receptors such as CTLA-4 and PD-1, which are also part of the CD28 family; however, BTLA uniquely interacts with the herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM), a TNF receptor, rather than the B7-Ig family of counter receptors. This interaction serves as a molecular switch that modulates T-cell activation by transmitting inhibitory signals through BTLA, thereby maintaining immune homeostasis and preventing excessive immune responses.
