Product Description

ABCB5(ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 5) is a critical multi-pass membrane protein composed of 812 amino acids, belonging to the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette transporters. ABCB5 plays a significant role in the cellular transport of various molecules, utilizing energy derived from ATP hydrolysis to facilitate movement of substances across cellular membranes. Notably, ABCB5 is implicated in the development of chemoresistance in malignant melanomas, particularly in conferring resistance to the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin. The presence of two isoforms, alpha and beta, resulting from alternative splicing, adds complexity to function and regulation.
