| Product Description | |
MMP-1(Matrix metallopeptidase 1) is a member of the peptidase M10 family of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). MMP-1 plays a critical role in degrading extracellular matrix components such as collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, and proteoglycans, which is essential for processes like tissue remodeling, wound healing, and angiogenesis. By breaking down these matrix proteins, MMP-1 facilitates cellular migration and invasion, making MMP-1 a key player in both normal physiological and pathological conditions, including cancer metastasis and rheumatoid arthritis. The regulation of MMP-1 is intricately linked to cellular signaling pathways, where p53 downregulates MMP-1, highlighting MMP-1′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing excessive tissue degradation. MMP-1 requires calcium and zinc ions for catalytic activity, which is characteristic of the matrix metalloproteinase family. |
