| Product Description | |
MMP-9(Matrix metalloproteinase 9) is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. MMP-9 plays a critical role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components like collagen, fibronectin, and laminin, which is vital for processes like tissue remodeling and inflammation. MMP-9 interacts with several key proteins that modulate its function, including tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), particularly TIMP-1, which binds to the catalytic domain of MMP-9, inhibiting its proteolytic activity. MMP-9 also works in conjunction with MMP-2 in the breakdown of type IV collagen in the basement membrane, contributing to processes like angiogenesis and tumor metastasis. Additionally, MMP-9 interacts with integrins and CD44, which can facilitate its localization to the cell surface and regulate cell migration. |
