Product Description

MSH6 also known as GTBP is a member of the DNA mismatch repair MutS family. MSH6 plays a crucial role in DNA mismatch repair pathway, which maintains genomic stability by correcting DNA replication errors. MSH6 is primarily located in the nucleus, where MSH6 forms a heterodimer with MSH2 to recognize and bind to G/T mismatches in DNA. This interaction initiates a cascade of events leading to excision and resynthesis of erroneous DNA segments. MSH6′s importance in this pathway is underscored by MSH6′s association with hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), where mutations in mismatch repair genes lead to microsatellite instability and increased cancer risk.
