IL-1β also known as IL1F2, IL-1 beta, interleukin 1 beta, IL1B is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. IL-1β plays a pivotal role in the immune response and inflammation, acting as a key mediator that influences the activity of T and B lymphocytes as well as natural killer (NK) cells. Notably, IL-1β is produced in response to inflammatory stimuli and is crucial for the activation of immune cells, promoting the secretion of other cytokines such as IL-2 while inhibiting IL-4 expression in T cells.
