Product Description | |
αE-catenin also known as catenin alpha 1, CTAAN1 is a member of the catenin family of proteins. αE-catenin plays a crucial role in E-cadherin-mediated cell-cell adhesion by linking E-cadherin to the cytoskeleton via interactions with β- or γ-catenin and actin filaments. αE-catenin is essential for maintaining the integrity of adherens junctions, which are vital for tissue architecture and cellular communication. αE-catenin is predominantly located in the neuroepithelial precursor cells of the developing cortical ventricular zone in the brain, where αE-catenin is involved in regulating cell density and the developmental hedgehog signaling pathway. The interactions between αE-catenin and vinculin are particularly important for the assembly of the apical junction complex in epithelial tissues, highlighting αE-catenin′s role in maintaining cellular structure and function. |
