| Product Description | |
CPT2(Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2) also known as CPTII is a nuclear protein which is transported to the mitochondrial inner membrane. CPT2 protein plays a crucial role in the mitochondrial β-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids, specifically functioning as a key enzyme that catalyzes the final step in the transport of acylcarnitines into the mitochondria for energy production. This process is vital for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis, particularly in tissues that rely heavily on fatty acid oxidation, such as the heart and skeletal muscle. Deficiencies in CPT2 can lead to metabolic disorders, highlighting the importance of CPT2 protein in both normal physiology and disease states. |
