Product Description

Cyclin E2 belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, whose members are characterized by a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclin E2 plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation, particularly during the G1/S phase transition, where cyclin E2 interacts with cyclin-dependent kinases Cdk2 and Cdk3, as well as cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors p27 and p21. This interaction is vital for proper cell cycle progression, as cyclin E2 helps regulate Cdk2 activity, which is essential for transitioning from G1 phase to S phase, where DNA replication occurs. Notably, cyclin E2 expression remains low in non-transformed cells but shows significant elevation in tumor-derived cells, highlighting cyclin E2′s potential as a cancer progression biomarker.
