| Product Description | |
ATE1 also known as Arginyltransferase 1 is a crucial enzyme belonging to the R-transferase family, responsible for posttranslational modification of proteins through arginylation, which is essential for subsequent degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. This modification is particularly important for proteins containing N-terminal aspartate, glutamate, and possibly cysteine residues, as ATE1 marks them for recognition and degradation, thereby regulating various cellular processes and maintaining protein homeostasis. ATE1 exists as a 518 amino acid monomeric protein that can localize to both cytoplasm and nucleus, highlighting a versatile role in cellular function. Alternative splicing of the ATE1 gene results in two distinct isoforms, which may have different regulatory roles or tissue distributions, further emphasizing the complexity of ATE1 function in cellular biology. |
