Product Description | |
ApoER2 also known as Apolipoprotein E receptor 2, LRP8 a member of the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family. ApoER2 includes other important receptors such as LDL receptor, LRP, megalin, and VLDLR. This family is characterized by a unique structure that includes a cluster of cysteine-rich class A repeats, epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats, YWTD repeats, and an O-linked sugar domain, which are essential for their function in cellular signaling and lipid metabolism. ApoER2 is predominantly expressed in the brain and placenta, where ApoER2 plays a vital role in mediating the interaction between extracellular Reelin and the cytosolic protein mDab1 (mammalian disabled protein). This interaction is critical for activating a tyrosine kinase signaling pathway that regulates neuronal migration along radial glial fibers during brain development, highlighting ApoER2′s importance in neurodevelopmental processes. |
