Product Description

Alix also known as AIP1, PDCD6IP is a protein that functions within the ESCRT pathway in the abscission stage of cytokinesis, in intralumenal endosomal vesicle formation, and in enveloped virus budding. Alix is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where Alix interacts with several key proteins, including apoptosis-associated proteins such as ALG-2 and PDCD6, as well as endocytosis-regulating proteins like CIN85. Additionally, Alix is involved in recruiting endosomal sorting complexes required for transport (ESCRT) proteins, such as Tsg101 and CHMP4, which are vital for multivesicular body formation and HIV-1 budding regulation. Alix binding with endophilins, enzymes that modify membrane curvature, underscores Alix importance in early and late stages of coated vesicle formation.
