| Product Description | |
Clathrin is a crucial cytosolic coat protein. Clathrin plays a significant role in receptor-mediated endocytosis, facilitating the engulfing of receptor proteins by clathrin-coated vesicles. Clathrin′s structure consists of three heavy chains and three light chains that non-covalently associate to form a distinctive triskelion shape. This triskelion structure is essential for Clathrin′s function, as the proximal segment of the heavy chain contains a binding site for light chains, critical for the assembly and stability of the clathrin coat. Proper formation of this coat enables efficient internalization of membrane proteins and lipids, influencing various cellular processes, including nutrient uptake and signal transduction. |
