| Product Description | |
PKA C-alpha also known as PKAα cat, PRKACA is one of the catalytic subunits of protein kinase A, which exists as a tetrameric holoenzyme with two regulatory subunits and two catalytic subunits, in its inactive form. PKA C-alpha is a critical component of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) holoenzyme, which plays a pivotal role in mediating diverse cellular responses such as proliferation, ion transport, metabolism regulation, and gene transcription. Structurally, PKA C-alpha consists of a conserved kinase domain essential for catalytic activity, and a regulatory domain that modulates function through binding with cAMP. Post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation, are vital for regulating PKA C-alpha′s activity, stability, and interactions with other proteins, thereby fine-tuning the signaling pathways governed.
