| Product Description | |
eIF2A also known as CDA02, MSTP004, MSTP089 is a eukaryotic translation initiation factor that catalyzes the formation of puromycin-sensitive 80 S preinitiation complexes and the poly(U)-directed synthesis of polyphenylalanine at low concentrations of Mg2+. eIF2A is ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels found in heart, brain, pancreas, and placenta, highlighting essential role in cellular metabolism and protein synthesis. eIF2A functions as a translation initiation factor by binding to methionyl-tRNA and directing it to 40S ribosomal subunits, a critical step in early stages of protein synthesis. Unlike eIF2 complex, which operates in a GTP-dependent manner, eIF2A facilitates this process in a codon-dependent manner, underscoring unique regulatory capabilities. |
