Product Description

RanBP9 also known as RanBPM, Importin-9 is a protein that binds RAN, a small GTP binding protein belonging to the RAS superfamily that is essential for the translocation of RNA and proteins through the nuclear pore complex. RanBP9 plays a crucial role in the nucleation of microtubule networks and serves as an adapter protein that links membrane receptors to intracellular signaling pathways. This function facilitates the transport of proteins and RNA through the nuclear pore complex, thereby influencing key cellular processes such as DNA replication and mitosis. RanBP9 is involved in the activation of androgen and glucocorticoid receptors, which are vital for various hormonal signaling pathways. Phosphorylated serine residues characterize RanBP9, which can affect localization and function; for instance, a phosphorylated form can associate with the plasma membrane, highlighting a dynamic role in cellular signaling.
