| Product Description | |
ERGIC-53 also known as LMAN1 is a membrane mannose-specific lectin that cycles between the endoplasmic reticulum, endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment, and cis-Golgi, functioning as a cargo receptor for glycoprotein transport. ERGIC-53 plays a crucial role in intracellular transport of glycoproteins, specifically those with high mannose-type glycans, from the endoplasmic reticulum to the ER-Golgi intermediate compartment. ERGIC-53 is essential for proper sorting and recycling of glycoproteins and glycolipids, ensuring they reach correct destinations within the cell. Notably, mutations or null expression of ERGIC-53 can lead to a rare autosomal recessive bleeding disorder characterized by a combined deficiency of coagulation factors V and VIII, highlighting ERGIC-53′s importance in maintaining hemostasis. |
