Product Description

Sec24D is a member of the Sec24 subfamily of the Sec23/Sec24 family. Sec24D plays a crucial role in vesicle trafficking from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi apparatus, which is essential for proper secretion of proteins and lipids. Sec24D has similarity to yeast Sec24p component of COPII. COPII is the coat protein complex responsible for vesicle budding from the ER. The COPII complex, with Sec24D as a vital component, functions as a coat that encapsulates ER-derived transport vesicles, facilitating transport of secretory proteins to the Golgi apparatus. Sec24D shares 50% amino acid identity with the ubiquitously expressed Sec24C protein, indicating a conserved function in protein transport and secretion across species.
